Gay from womb to tomb
Jacob and I sat down to record episode seven of Tabard Inn and it’s live now!
Vine and Fig Community member Teresa started us off with a beautiful story about how visiting Rikers Island brought her back to the Catholic Church.
Then we we discussed an article by Sofia Barrett-Ibarra about how fashion can be both both affirming of queer people’s identities and cause anxiety. Jacob especially liked the part about J. Crew femme brought up in the article.
After that we looked at the latest shenanigans from the Amazon Synod, including the tradbros who stole an indigenous icon from a church in Rome and threw it into the Tiber River because they think they are modern-day St. Bonaventure’s, or something. Even Simcha Fisher, who is no Pope Francis stan told said this was a bad look. Anyways it was gross and racist and continues the theme of traditionalist Catholics revolting against any attempt by this pope to center the Church on something that isn’t them
And finally we talked about an article by Sonja Livingston on what Día de los Muertos can teach us about life. Jacob and I both agreed we need a lot more traditions like this here in America because our fear of dying is really weird and the way we forget about our ancestors is too.
